Dessert and Beer Pairing

The Local Cider Bar

We are very excited to be working with the very talented local pastry chef Chrissy Gierek . After snacking on a few treats she brought in a while back, we decided we needed to do something to show off her talents and our beer. So we raided our cellar, got in touch with new breweries, special requested a keg for the event, and grabbed one very special IPA to showcase the amazing desserts of Chrissy Gierek Starting at 5 on Monday the 24th for $18 we will be serving 5 beers, with 5 desserts.

2 year aged *2012 Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine
Hops: Cascade, Chinook, Centennial Malts: Two-row Barley, English Caramel, Dextrin
ABV: 9.6% IBU: 90
Bigfoot is a beast of a beer, brimming with bold flavors of bittersweet malt and heaps of aggressive whole-cone Pacific Northwest hops. First introduced in the winter of 1983, Bigfoot is a cult-classic beer brewed in the barleywine style, meaning a strong, robust, bruiser of a beer with the refined intensity of a wine. Bigfoot is prized by beer collectors for its supreme cellarability. Under the proper conditions, it can age like a fine wine, developing new flavors and character as it matures in the bottle.

Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse, with espresso bean garnish
Not sure we need a description there, you know how good that’s going to be!
Paired with;
*Speakeasy Black Hand Chocolate Milk Stout
ABV: 6.9% IBU: 37
The Black Hand lures you in with its dark, smooth character, taking you prisoner with its creamy sweetness. Without warning, this milk stout seizes your senses with aromas of rich chocolate malts and roasted cacao nibs and holds on for a lingering finish.

Chocolate decadence
A bittersweet flourless chocolate torte enrobed in bittersweet chocolate ganache. Very rich, dense, and fudge-like. Served with a raspberry coulis.

*Deschutes Black Butte XXIV, 24th Anniversary Reserve
Aged an extra year and a half
Imperial Porter
Hops: Malts:
ABV: 10.8% IBU: 60
XXIV. 24 years after Black Butte Porter’s debut, our potent, layered, imperial tribute returns. As usual, it’s a jazz riff, guided by the brewer’s muse and the lure of exotic ingredients. Artisanal dark chocolate nibs. Deglet dates. Mission figs. It may, possibly, hopefully, be the best edition yet. But, as it should be, you’ll be the judge of that.
