Dumb Movies with Smart People: The Meg
Humboldt County Library - Eureka Main Branch
Come for the over-the-top movie, stay for the chance to ask a local scientist what the movie got right, and what it got so, so wrong. On Saturday, July 13th, we are showing “The Meg”:a massive creature previously thought to be extinct attacks a deep-sea submersible, leaving it disabled, and trapping the crew at the bottom of the Pacific. With time running out, a visionary oceanographer recruits rescue diver Jonas Taylor to save the crew and the sea itself from an unimaginable threat — a 75-foot-long prehistoric shark known as the Megalodon. After the movie, there will be a Q&A with HSU Marine Lab Director Dr. Brian Tissot, who will be answering all of your questions about sharks.
