“Dumplin’” Movie Screening and Raffle Fundraiser
Ava, an incredible 12 year-old girl from our community, is hosting a fundraiser for the RAVEN Project! The RAVEN Project is a youth-led, youth-implemented street outreach program and drop-in center in Eureka, CA. Ava has planned a screening of the movie Dumplin’ and has gathered an array of lovely raffle prizes!!! Please support Ava and the RAVEN Project on Sunday May 26th from 7-9pm at the Arcata Playhouse, 1251 9th Street. The doors open at 6pm and there is a suggested donation of $5. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $1. Dumplin’ (rated PG-13 for light swearing) is about the plus-size, teenage daughter of a former beauty queen who signs up for the same pageant as a protest. This escalates when other contestants follow in her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant, and their small Texas town. (1 hour 50 minutes).
