EARTHSEED DOCUMENTARY SCREENING & COMMUNITY CELEBRATION COMES TO EUREKA

Eureka Theater

Color Maiz invites the community to an evening of film, conversation, and celebration on June 10, 2026 at the Eureka Theater, 612 F St, Eureka, CA. The event centers on the screening of Earthseed, a documentary that follows a profound pilgrimage through California — from Los Angeles to the Mendocino Woodlands — exploring models of survival, community solidarity, and land sovereignty.
The evening unfolds in three parts:
5–7 PM | EARTHSEED Screening The documentary, produced by The Kitchen Collective, traces a journey undertaken from March to June 2023 that connected communities, activists, farmers, artists, youth, and elders across California. Inspired by Octavia Butler’s Parables series, the legacy of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, and the diaspora of the Global South, Earthseed examines the material conditions and resource challenges facing communities today — and the grassroots efforts rising to meet them.
7–8 PM | “All That You Change, Changes You” — Community Discussion Hosted by Sarai Bordeaux, Eureka Poet Laureate and one of the inspiring individuals featured in the film, this get-together invites attendees to share reflections on the documentary and engage in open conversation about honoring ancestors, building community resilience, and supporting one another’s survival.
8–10 PM | Mixer: Radical Hospitality Color Maíz hosts a celebratory mixer on Wiyot Land, featuring sounds and rhythms from across the globe courtesy of DJ Homie D, alongside traditional food delicacies. Come enjoy treats, connect with the community, and craft liberation together.

“Earth Seed practices radical hospitality as a form of survival — a way to deepen our relationships with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color activists, artists, educators, farmers, youth, and elders, fostering a sense of community and resilience.”
This event is an opportunity to witness, reflect, and act — joining a growing movement that centers the voices and visions of communities shaping a collective future. For more information, visit peopleskitchencollective.com/earth-seed
