Blue Lake: A Last Resort
Blue Lake: A Last Resort, An Evening of Storytelling
Fire! Train wrecks! A Lake?
Saturday March 15th, at 6 p.m. in the Carlo Theatre at Dell’Arte International, join the Blue Lake community for an evening of entertaining storytelling. Members of Dell’Arte’s third year ensemble- Andrew Eldredge, Jerome Yorke and Billy Higgins- in partnership with the Blue Lake Museum, invite one and all to relive stories from the town’s colorful past and present. This evening will bring the Blue Lake community together and shed light on how this town came to be. From railroad to resort town Blue Lake offers a history like no other. “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.” Free admission for the evening. Doors open at 6:00pm. Hearts stay open forever.
How We Encounter the World; Our Stories, Our Selves
Dell’Arte International’s 3rd year MFA students Lucy Shelby and Ariel Lauryn are partnering with Troop 70526 of the Girl Scouts of Northern California and Area Director Kathy Johanson, to advance the Girl Scout mission; “Girl scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.” Through a Workshop series titled “How We Encounter Our World; an exploration of awareness, ourselves (particularly as females), and the world we inhabit” the Dell’Arte students are using the medium of theatre to collaborate with the girls to create a Live Magazine performance event in Eureka. This event in intended for invited guests only.
Past CBA partners include the Raven Project, a resource center providing services for homeless youth; Making Headway Support Center for survivors of traumatic brain injury; Del Norte IPA and Hospice of Humboldt with “Exit 101,” a performance about end-of-life choices; and inmates at the state prison at Pelican Bay, in partnership with Humboldt State’s radio station KHSU with “Pelican Bay Speaks,” among many others. Dell’Arte’s community initiatives are supported by funds from the James Irvine Foundation and this year through ArtPlace America.
