Emergency Medical Technician Certification

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) care for the sick or injured in emergency medical settings. People’s lives often depend on their quick reactions and competent care. EMTs and paramedics respond to emergency calls, performing medical services and transporting patients to medical facilities. This class provides entry level knowledge and skills, as well as testing strategies for the national exam and information on how to obtain and maintain national, state and local licenses and certifications. EMTs learn to manage airways using artificial devices, assess the severity of illness or injury, manage wounds and bleeding, immobilize fractures, perform CPR, utilize an automated defibrillator and assist with administration of some medications. This course is 160 hours of classroom time, 24 hours of field and clinical observation time.
