Emergency Medical Technician Certification (EMT)
Humboldt State University Nelson Hall
August 24 – December 15 The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides basic life support care to critically ill or injured patients. EMTs learn to manage airways using artificial devices, assess the severity of illness or injury, manage wounds and bleeding, immobilize fractures, perform CPR, utilize an automated defibrillator and assist with administration of some medications. Materials Required: Emergency Care 12th Edition, available in the HSU bookstore. Recommended companion workbook, available in the HSU bookstore Days & Times: Monday & Tuesday • 5:00 – 10:00 PM. One additional Saturday class • November 7 Location: Nelson Hall East 102 • Goodwin Forum Requirements & Co-requisites: 18 years of age at time of course completion, 160 classroom hours, 24 field and clinical observation hours, CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent, Background check through Certified Background Company ($45), immunizations or proof of immunizations (MMR, TB, Hepatitis B, influenza.)
