You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown
Based on the Comic Strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz, this musical presents a day in the life of Charlie Brown, from Valentine’s Day to the baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed in with the lives of his friends (both human and non-human) and strung together on the string of a single day, from bright uncertain morning to hopeful starlit evening. Winner of two Tony Awards in 1999.
The production is directed by David Moore who acted in his first show at the age of nine. He first appeared on stage in Humboldt County ten years ago and directed his first local show two years ago. Moore, like many people, has loved the Peanuts gang for years. “They’ve been with us for over sixty years and for good reason,” explains Moore. “They remind us to enjoy our moments of happiness, and help us laugh at our troubles and frustrations. This is one of those rare all ages show where there’s no telling who might enjoy it more, the kids or the adults. The show is about happiness, friendship, family, love, childhood. It’s a fun, funny, energetic night of theater. Also, the music is fantastic.”
The talented cast features Amy Chalfant, Jordan Dobbins, Tyler Elwell, Megan Johnson, Evan Needham and Jessie Shieman. Music direction is by Molly Severdia; choreography by Danielle Cichon. Scenery and lighting designs are by Calder Johnson. Costume design is by Jenneveve Hood. Lauren Wieland will stage-manage the production.
