ENC/HBAC Lecture Series

Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center

Explore North Coast and the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center as co-sponsors invites the public to their Lecture Series featuring Troy Nicolini. Troy is the Meteorologist in Charge of the National Weather Service office on Woodley Island. His areas of interest include forecasting ocean waves near shore, including set behavior. He also spends a lot of time in small boats around the Humboldt region and beyond. Troy will provide an intuitive overview of ocean wave basics that will help kayakers, boaters, and surfers to use buoy and forecast information to make decisions. Topics will include the wind wave formation process, how waves travel and change, and how they interact with the coast. The impact of waves on boats will also be covered. The lecture is scheduled for Monday, February 11th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, 921, Waterfront Drive, Eureka. Admission is free.
