Explore North Coast and the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center as co-sponsors invites the public to their Lecture Series event featuring Dr. Brian Tissot, director of HSU’s Marine Laboratory. He will present the results of five years of underwater surveys of the North Coast that examine kelp forest ecosystems and the effects of sea urchins on the community, including abalone and fishes. Sea urchin barrens are a global phenomenon often linked to marine heat waves. Through an examination of long-term ecosystem and oceanographic data, Tissot will evaluate north coast kelp forest health and future prospects
