ERFSA Fall Luncheon Lecture Series with Silvia Pavan
Humboldt ERFSA, the Emeritus and Retired Faculty and Staff Association is pleased to announce the second speaker in their Fall Luncheon Lecture series at Noon on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Baywood Golf & Country Club, 3600 Buttermilk Lane, Arcata.
Silvia Pavan, Assistant Professor, Biological Sciences, recipient of 2024 ERFSA Small Grant Award, will present a talk titled, “An Exploratory expedition to Rio Abiseo National Park: revealing a mysterious new species of mammal and garnering genomic resources from a World Heritage Site”. She comments “I am broadly interested in biodiversity, and I work with fieldwork exploration and collections-based research to discover and describe species, and to understand small mammals diversity and evolution. I am going to share with you some of the results from an exploratory expedition to Rio Abiseo National Park in Peru. I am investigating the unknown diversity on this World Heritage Site, revealing high endemicity and several new species of small mammals.”

Meet and greets begin at 11:30 a.m. Julie Stewart, Interim OLLI Program Coordinator will provide information about OLLI at 11:40 a.m. Various foods and beverages can be ordered for lunch from Baywood’s regular menu; please arrive early to order lunch. The main presentation will begin at noon. The ERFSA lecture series is open to the entire North Coast community and everyone is welcome!
