In 1969 a small group of Native student, activists and other urban Natives begin to occupy Alcatraz Island in the San Fransico Bay, reclaiming “Indian Land” for the first time since the 1880s. A monumental feat in ongoing struggle for the self-determination of Indigenous Peoples. This is their story.
