Wharf Trail VTS Work Day Sun., April 3rd , 9-11 Meet: at 9 AM. — On Waterfront Drive Across from backside of Costco Look for the Volunteer Trail Stewards Sign New and Old, Regular and Occasional — All Volunteers are welcome! For our Sunday April 3rd Wharf Trail VTS Work Day, 9-11am we will be planting native shrubs. Sunday, April 3rd we will be doing some planting along the trail between Del Norte Street and 14th Street. ( Railroad Street, behind Costco ) If you can, please bring a shovel. We have 52 native shrubs! We were awarded a Conservation Grant from Sequoia Park Zoo for planting these shrubs. Most of them are in 1-gallon containers (five are 5-gallon). So we will be: Digging holes twice as deep as the containers the plants came in; Mixing the excavated soil 50-50 with compost; Putting 1/2 the soil-compost mix back in the hole, add a little water; Loosening roots if they are root-bound, plant the shrub; Adding the remaining soil mix around the roots, and add the rest of the water. Just in case you don’t want to plant shrubs; there is also the opportunity to pick-up litter throughout the Wharf Trail —from Del Norte Street to C Street. The Weather forecast for Sunday is partly sunny, with a high near 54. We are following COVID-19 safety measures: Attend ONLY if you are fully COVID-19 Vaccinated; If you don’t feel well, don’t come; Wear a mask within 6 feet of others; Remain 6 feet apart whenever possible; Bring your own water, an assortment of snacks & beverages will be available; Bring your own gloves; As always, VTS recognize that the trail is open to the public and will allow > 6 foot distance between volunteers and trail users. Stay Healthy! Hope to see you there!
