FOAM Lecture on Benefits of Native Plant Gardening

Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center

Pete Haggard and Jane Monroe recently published a book through Cal Poly Humboldt that will help you dig into a new way of gardening — one that nurtures not just your plants, but the planet. They will talk about the benefits of native gardening and give you a look at some of the topics in “Rewilding: Native Gardening for the Pacific Northwest and North Coast.” You can transform your yard or lawn into a resilient garden landscape filled with vibrant native plants and endemic wildlife.
Pete Haggard is coauthor, with Judy Haggard, of Insects of the Pacific Northwest. He has a degree in wildlife management from Cal Poly Humboldt, taught in the University of California Master Gardener Program, and retired from the Humboldt County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office in 2006. Jane Monroe has a BS and an MA in biology from CPH. She has worked as a zoology lecturer and a biologist.
