Fourth Friday Flix: The Endless Summer (1966)
Grab the SPF 50, wax your board and catch vicarious wave after wave in the 1966 ode to surfing The Endless Summer. Narrator, filmmaker and surfer Bruce Brown takes us to the beaches of Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Senegal and Ghana, chasing the sun and surf around the world. And while its itinerary does put one’s own summer plans in stark relief, the film, shot in 16mm, captures not only the skills of athletes at the top of their game — and enormous, cresting waves — but the culture of surfing as it was. Generously sponsored by The Banana Hut Hawaiian BBQ. Tickets are $5.00 all ages. Doors open at 7:00 PM, movie starts at 7:30 PM.
