FREE Bike Rodeo and Safety Fair

Marshall Family Resource Center

A free Bike Rodeo and Safety Fair is being held on Saturday, September 17th from 10am - 1pm at the Marshall Family Resource Center, 2100 J Street Eureka, to help students and families learn to bicycle safely. A skills course will give students the opportunity to improve their cycling skills and practice riding in a straight line, making turns, and using hand signals. Loaner bicycles and free helmets will be available to those who do not bring their own, however participants are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and helmets and can receive additional raffle tickets and a free professional bicycle safety check for doing so. Parents will have the opportunity to learn how to properly fit their child’s helmet, register their bicycles, and receive a bicycle license from the Eureka Police Department. There will also be opportunities for students and families to practice pedestrian safety skills and learn about local Safe Routes to School (SR2S) programs. Healthy snacks will be provided and a raffle for great prizes will close out the day with the chance to win a family pass for a Humboldt Bay Harbor cruise on the MV Madaket.
