Free Environmental Education Docent Training
INSTRUCTION & FACILITATION LEAD BY- • Dave Feral (MA Biology HSU) the Founder/Executive Director of Mad River Alliance Non-Profit and Founder/Program Director of the Web of Life Field School (W.O.L.F.) •Along with Hugh Slesinger (MA Interdisciplinary Studies SSU/State of California Credentialed Teacher, Co-founder of Land Partners Through Stewardship LandPaths “In Our Own Backyard” Program as well as Napa Valley Acorn Soupe Environmental Education Program. PURPOSE – Please join us for a series of one day “teacher trainings” along the banks of the Mad River Watershed. Free Certification available upon completion. Among the Topics to be included are the following: • General Riparian Ecology and Eco-Diversity of the Mad River • Educational Approaches to Hands-On Experiential Learning • Instructor Facilitation of Student-Centered Inquiry Based Learning • Student Safety and Instructor Facilitation (“Outdoor Classroom” Management) • Understanding & Instilling the Importance of Watershed Stewardship, Scientific Monitoring & Data Collection. WHAT TO BRING? - Layered outdoor clothing, sturdy walking shoes and a bag lunch.
