Godwit Days Free Opening Reception & Lectures

See Event Description

All are invited to a free opening reception starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 21, as part of the 22nd annual Godwit Days Spring Migration Bird Festival. Come to the Arcata Community Center to mingle and munch while perusing vendor booths, nonprofit organization tables, a show by Arcata Artisans, and over 800 pieces of bird art submitted by Humboldt County students. Immediate following the reception at 6:30 p.m., the fourth annual Humboldt County Bird of the Year award will be presented, followed by two free lectures. The first is by Greg O’Connell and Michael Kauffmann of the North Coast Chapter of the California Native Plant Society, which was selected as this year’s Spotlight organization. Then, writer, photographer, and adventurer Noah Strycker will give a humorous and inspiring presentation entitled “Birding Without Borders: An Epic World Big Year.”
