Holocaust Remembrance Day gathering

Temple Beth El

Rabbi Naomi Steinberg will lead a Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) memorial in memory of the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. She will be joined by the Temple Beth El choir. The event will feature a screening of The Lady in Number 6; Music Saved My Life, the inspiring and uplifting Academy-Award-winning short documentary about Alice Herz Sommer, a 110-year-old pianist and Holocaust survivor. Rabbi Steinberg comments, “Despite the overwhelming tragedy of the Holocaust, we can still draw inspiration from stories of rescuers and survivors. Those stories become part of the sacred narrative of the Jewish people and of all humanity.” Yom HaShoah was established in 1951 to memorialize the murder of 2/3 of European Jewry. It has become a worldwide observance remembering victims of genocide.
