HSU Jazz Orchestra

The HSU Jazz Orchestra blurs musical boundaries with jazz arrangements of a 60s pop tune (“Wichita Lineman”), a 50s country song (“I Can’t Stop Loving You”) and an obscure funk tune recorded by James Brown. Jazz purists also get a taste with classics from the Duke Ellington and Count Basie bands, plus a brand new piece by young jazz composer Omar Thomas. Directed by Dan Aldag, the Jazz Orchestra features vocals by Jo Kuzelka, and solos by pianist Alex Espe, clarinetist Nick Durant and guitarist Kris Lang.
