Humboldt County Supervisor Candidate Forum

Thirteen community groups have joined forces to host a candidate forum featuring candidates running in the March, 3 2020 primary election for Humboldt County Board of Supervisors, Districts 1 and 2.

Co-sponsors include:

* College of the Redwoods
* KMUD
* The Mateel Community Center
* The Humboldt & Del Norte Central Labor Council
* North Coast People’s Alliance
* Cooperation Humboldt
* Health Care for All Humboldt / Physicians for a National Health Program
* Northcoast Environmental Center

* Move to Amend
* Affordable Homeless Housing Alternatives
* The Eureka Chapter of the NAACP
* The Coalition for Responsible Transportation Priorities
* Humboldt County Transition Age Youth Collaborative
* Humboldt Area Center for Harm Reduction

The event will take place at the College of the Redwoods theater. Doors open at 6pm and the forum will begin promptly at 6:30.

Each organization will ask questions which are relevant to their mission, giving voters an opportunity to hear how the candidates stand on a variety of issues. All eight candidates who have filed papers to run for Districts 1 and 2 have been invited to participate in this forum.

District 1 covers Ferndale, Holmes, Honeydew, Hookton, Loleta, Pepperwood, Petrolia, Redcrest, Scotia, Shively, Stafford, and parts of southern Eureka.

District 2 includes Alderpoint, Benbow, Briceland, Bridgeville, Carlotta, Dinsmore, Ettersberg, Fortuna, Garberville, Myers Flat, Phillipsville, Redway, Rio Dell, Shelter Cover, and Weott.

To accommodate voters who live in the more southerly sections of District 2, the forum will be simulcast by KMUD at the Mateel Community Center, 59 Rusk Lane in Redway.

It will be moderated by Lorna Bryant and recorded to air quickly after on Access Humboldt.

This event is free and open to the public. Childcare is available on-site through College of the Redwoods’ Child Development Department; if you require child care, please email hello@northcoastpeoplesalliance.org by January 22nd (we need an accurate count of children so we know how many teachers are needed).
