Intertidal Exploration
Join retired HSU Biology Professor and teacher extraordinaire, Dr. John DeMartini, for an early morning low tide lesson in the intertidal habitats of Humboldt Bay. The emphasis will be on intertidal invertebrates of the sandy mudflat habitats near the Samoa County Boat Launch County Park. Gaper clams, sea anemones, shorebirds and more await you in this magical environment. Please wear boots or shoes that can get wet, and bring a fishing license if you have one. Access to this intertidal zone requires climbing over rip rap boulders. R.S.V.P. required, please call (707) 444-1397 or email info@friendsofthedunes.org. Meet at the Samoa Boat Launch County Park off of Hwy 255 in Samoa.
