Invasive Ivy Eradication at Humboldt County Office of Education
Please join us to help take out some really bad fruiting invasive ivy infestations at the HCOE. This event is sponsored by EPIC (Environmental Protection Information Center) and RIPE (Redwood Invasive Plant Eradicators). This is part of our efforts to supplement the restoration work being done at Cooper Gulch Park. Girdling massive infestations of fruiting invasive ivy on trees with pruning saws. The creek that runs through Cooper Gulch Park runs through this area also, and this area is immediately next to Cooper Gulch Park. The level of infestations here are unusually bad. Over 50 trees have severe ivy infestations, each producing thousands of berries which are being eaten by birds and spread throughout the area, including Cooper Gulch Park next door. We will have tools and safety equipment for everyone, but it helps us a lot if you bring your own. Bring thick long-sleeved clothing and water, and bring gloves if you have them.
