Isshinryu Karate

If you are looking for an activity that provides a good workout with the benefit of learning a practical from of self-defense, this class may be for you. Isshinryu Karate is a classical style of Okinawan Karate. Participants learn Isshinryu basics, forms (kata), sparring techniques and a direct, effective form of self-defense. Classes are taught throughout the academic year (including summer) and are open to all community members. This class is taught to all levels and students may earn rank in Isshinryu Karate. Robert Sherman, eight degree black belt and chief instructor, has taught Isshinryu Karate concurrently at HSU since 1979. Other instructors include: Eric Lien, 6th degree black belt, Nicole Doan, 3rd degree black belt, and Micah Daw 1st degree black belt.
