IV Therapy for RNs and LVNs

College of the Redwoods Community Education

This class is designed to prepare the student to start and superimpose intravenous fluids. The content will include types of fluids and devices rationales for therapies, safety factors, complications, monitoring and preparation of site, patient and equipment. It will also include supervised practice of the technique of venipuncture on mannequins and fellow classmates. Students will successfully start 3 IVs on fellow classmates. The course fulfills the requirements of (and is approved by) the California State Board of Nursing for IV Certification for LVNs. Fee includes all materials and equipment. Bring your sack lunch; school café will be closed. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
