Jacqueline Suskin: Poetry Workshop

The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is proud to welcome LA-based poet Jacqueline Suskin back to Humboldt. As part of her visit, which includes a reading at Northtown Books on Friday May 25th, she will be teaching a workshop for writers upstairs at the Sanctuary, open to anyone who has a desire to grow their poetic practice. In her own words, here is what workshop attendees can expect… Poetic Purpose Workshop: During the workshop, I’ll lead the group through through my ideas of poetic expression and process. Folks can bring a poem they are already working on, or simply a blank page where they can begin. Together we work on journaling and free-writing techniques, discuss the magic of stream of consciousness writing, and I guide each individual through crafting a poem of their own. I will also write a poem for all of the participants. The end result will be almost like a personal mantra or prayer that each person can walk away with.
