When James Zeller presents a trio with the backing of two exceptional local talents Blake Brown on guitar and Saul Smith Stewart on upright bass, this September 5th at our little Moonstone Crossing Winery, it will be very familiar territory for the local trombonist/vocalist of Creative Sanctuary renown.
“The James Zeller Trio” of James Zeller on trombone and vocals, Pat Brennan on guitar and Lorenzo Sandi on Bass was a working unit in NYC from 2012 to 2017. The last five plus of those years were spent as house band at Michelin rated Cafe Boulud’s Bar Pleiades, and the trio played perhaps 1500 engagements in that period.
“I’m really looking forward to this show. I love the sound of these instruments together, it can be quiet and intimate or raucously swinging,” says Zeller, “and I’m thrilled to work with Blake and Saul. I heard Blake years ago and wanted to work with him but the opportunity never arose. Now it has, finally. And Saul I’ve just met, and I’m so glad. He’s a great bassist.”
This show will take a very small audience on an intimate music journey of pieces hand picked from Zeller’s enormous repertoire.
