Jamie Baum Septet+
Flutist and composer Jamie Baum brings her eight-piece band of New York jazz luminaries to Humboldt County to perform music from their latest CD, “Bridges”. Baum’s music draws upon the ancient connections between Jewish scales, Arabic Maqam modes, and South Asian music, borrowing many of the compositional devices used in classical music while retaining the rhythmic pulse and open structure that improvisers require.
