John Zerzan: A People’s History of Civilization
Friday, August 3 at 7 p.m., Northtown Books will host a talk by John Zerzan. He will discuss his recent books ‘A People’s History of Civilization’ and ‘Time & Time Again.’ In ‘A People’s History of Civilization, John Zerzan critiques agriculture-based civilization as inherently oppressive and advocates drawing upon the life of hunter-gatherers as an inspiration for what free society should look like. Subjects of his criticism include domestication, language, symbolic thought, and the concept of time.
