Leading Lights Awards Ceremony Arts Alive

Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA)

Leading Lights Awards Ceremony and Artist Reception “Save Energy Today, Save Energy Tomorrow,” Arts Alive, Saturday, August 4, 6:00-9:00 pm The Redwood Coast Energy Authority is hosting an artist reception and awards ceremony for “Save Energy Today, Save Energy Tomorrow,” on Saturday, August 4, from 6:00–9:00pm during Arts Alive. The “Leading Lights Project“ is a 2 and 3D art and education collaboration between the Academy of Redwoods, The Studio, the Redwood Coast Energy Authority, the Krause Family Foundation, and PG&E. Winning artists will be announced, and the public will have a chance to meet the artists while enjoying refreshments and live music. Leading Lights is a project that included students and a lead teacher at the Academy of Redwoods (AR) located on the College of the Redwoods campus. AR is an early college high school that enables students to graduate in four years with both their high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree. Five students at AR volunteered to participate in the Leading Lights project, creating a 60 second public service announcement. They focused not just on ways to save energy but rather on changing the ways in which we generate energy. The Studio, a rural artists’ collective and learning environment for adults with developmental disabilities in Eureka submitted 24 pieces of art for the Leading Lights project.
