Lecture: Early Results from the Carbon Ocean Observatory with Joe Tyburczy

HSU Natural History Museum

Joe, a biologist working for Calif. Sea Grant will provide an explanation of ocean acidification (including a live demo) and why it’s something everyone should be concerned about. He will then share preliminary results from an ongoing collaborative project to monitor ocean acidification, track eelgrass distribution in Humboldt Bay, and investigate the extent to which eelgrass may locally counteract ocean acidification. What does this mean for the oyster industry? The crab fishery? What can be done about it? Come find out!
