Let’s Talk about the Middle East
The Miniplex at Richards’ Goat Tavern
As part of the Let’s Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series, HSU History professor Dr. Leena Dallasheh hosts a screening of “Arana’s Children” (2004) by Juliano Mer Khamis. The Director follows 15 years of the life of his mother, Arna, an Israeli activist. The documentary covers her work with children of the Jenin camp, who became, in a sense, Arna’s children, over the years from the first Intifada through her death from cancer in 1995. Juliano’s film continues beyond Arna’s death to the second Intifada in 2000, specifically highlighting the tragic destiny of Arna’s children: the children whom Arna taught, who were killed in the violence of the continuing conflict.
The screening and discussion will take place at Richard’s Goat miniplex (401 I Street, Arcata) on Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m.
