Let’s Talk about the Middle East
The Miniplex at Richards’ Goat Tavern
As part of the Let’s Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series, HSU History professor Dr. Leena Dallasheh hosts a screening of “Baran,” directed by Majid Majidi. This film offers a glimpse into the lives of Afghani refugees in Tehran (then over a million, now almost 3 million). The romantic film tells the story of Lateef, a young Iranian man, and Baran, a young Afghan refugee girl, who disguises herself as a boy to work at a construction site after her father is injured and can no longer support his family.
The screening and discussion will take place at Richard’s Goat miniplex (401 I Street, Arcata) on Thursday, March 2, at 7 p.m.
