Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive

See Event Description

Help local families experiencing food insecurity as a part of the annual Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive. To cut down on waste, we will be reusing bags from 2020 that went unused due to the pandemic. The bag date may look off but the food drive is on for Saturday, May 14th! It’s easy to participate. Look for the blue donation bags in your mailbox the week leading up to the food drive. Simply place your donation of non-perishable food in the bag and leave the bag by your mailbox and your letter carrier will do the rest. The foods most needed include canned fruits and vegetables, soups and stews, nut butters, and canned meats and fish. Items that cannot be accepted include rusty or bulging cans, foods that are clearly beyond their expiration date, and home-canned items which all have to be disposed of for health reasons. Please try to avoid donations in glass or cardboard as they can easily crush when tossed in with canned items. Volunteers are needed to help sort and box the food when it is delivered to Food for People. Please call or email Food for People at (707) 445-3166 extension 310 or volunteer@foodforpeople.org to sign up.
