The only thing better than bright, beautiful, colorful art is bright, beautiful, colorful art that you can eat. Enter Crystal Lockhart. Some may call her an artist, others may call her a baker, but most know her as Humboldt County’s top cakeologist. The proprietor of Humboldt’s Cherry Bomb Bakery, Lockhart does to cake what Picaso did to canvas- she makes that baked good come alive. On Friday, May 1, 2015, from 5pm to 8pm, Eel River Brewing Company invites the community to meet Lockhart and watch her make cake magic, live in the pub. Lockhart’s fascination with cakes started at a young age, watching Grandma in the kitchen. While dabbling in psychology, accounting, and event planning, Lockhart took a job at a bakery in Salt Lake City where she realized her destiny was in frosting and fondant. Mother of two- Arianna, age seven, and Romelo, age three, Lockhart enjoys spending time with her little ones, long walks at the zoo, and trolling Pinterest for cakespiration. From Olaf to Monster High, from weddings to baby showers, Lockhart does it all. If you can dream it, she can bake it. Come by the pub, check out her creations and watch her turn a cake into a masterpiece.
