Living History Day
Part of our Admission Free Spring Break Week sponsored by Provident Credit Union, Living History Day is a chance to experience a glimmer of Humboldt County history. Come see a local basket weaving demonstration with Ruthie Maloney. If you have ever wondered what it takes to build a Yurok dugout canoe, come and enjoy a presentation by Shirley Laos and company. Woodworkers Austin Allison and Tony Smithers will be carving with traditional tools. Learn what it was like to be stationed at Fort Humboldt in the mid-19th century with Bill Kohse. There will be a hand-quilting demonstration led by Diane Bowers, with opportunities for hands-on learning. Finally, visit Jeff Lanphere at our outreach table and get in touch with local history!
