Mad River Transit Singers

Fulkerson Recital Hall

The Cal Poly Humboldt Department of Dance, Music, and Theatre presents Mad River Transit Singers performing “Bringin’ it Back Home,” an eclectic program featuring a variety of musical styles—from jazz standards to more modern tunes. Join us on Sunday, May 4th at 2:00 p.m. at Fulkerson Recital Hall. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at tickets.humboldt.edu/dance-music-theatre.

The concert program takes off with Rosana Eckert’s tight swing “Bringin’ it Back Home,” with lyrics by Rosana and Gary Eckert. The group continues with George and Ira Gershwin’s high energy “A Foggy Day,” introduced by Fred Astaire in 1937 in the film A Damsel in Distress. Rosana Eckert takes Irving Berlin’s popular “How Deep is the Ocean,” slows it down, and gives it a contemporary, ethereal feel. The group keeps it fun with Rosana Eckert’s arrangement of Mose Allison’s blues tune “Your Mind is on Vacation,” and has a moment of tender expression with Kirby Shaw’s a cappella arrangement of “When I Fall in Love.” You will want to take out your top hats and canes with Sylvia Dee and Arthur Kent’s nostalgic “Bring Me Sunshine.” This is sure to be a fun concert you won’t want to miss!
