Mal Coombs Tide Pool HIke with Taylor Faye Benedict

Mal Coombs Park

Experience the rich bounty of our local tide pools on Saturday, June 18 as Friends of the Lost Coast offers it’s third hike of the summer season with an outing at Mal Coombs Park in Shelter Cove. The hike embarks at 9a.m. from the Mal Coombs parking lot, located at 1176 Lower Pacific Drive. The access route will lead participants down the boat ramp and a short distance along the shore of Point Delgada to reach the tide pools during an especially low tide. Participants will then have approximately 1 hour to explore the tide pools and learn more about intertidal zones and the creatures that call them home with environmental educator, Taylor Faye Benedict, before walking back to Mal Coombs Park. This is a family-friendly event, though participants should note the hike is along rocky coastline with uneven terrain and there is presently no other access to the tide pools than via this route.
