Migrations: Walking Together

Playhouse Arts presents the fourth annual Migrations: Walking Together, on Saturday, September 28. Migrations is an original, multi-disciplinary, multicultural project that offers dance, movement, storytelling, puppetry, music, poetry, and much more.

The structure of this event is a procession that takes place on Wiyot land. We will start at Valley West Park, Hallen Drive, at 9:00 a.m., and end at the Arcata Community Forest around 2:30 p.m.

The procession stops at several locations along the route where diverse cultural groups, organizations, and artists, including Centro Del Pueblo, Yurok Tribal elder, Humboldt Taiko, Humboldt Lao Dancers, Humboldt Capoeira, the Blue Lake Choir, Ra, and Ponies of Harmony, will share their work, play, artistry, and culture. Participants can plan to walk the whole route (about 5 miles) or just drop in for a performance or two hosted by these local organizations and artists.

In a procession, solidarity amongst participants grows, as walking together unites us in a shared journey. Through the arts we are able to listen to ideas more easily, as we grow a deeper understanding of our condition.

Migrations will use the research an community outreach that Playhouse Arts continues to develop to broaden and deepen our relationships.

Una balada migrante

Playhouse Arts presenta la cuarta edición anual de Migraciones: Caminando Juntos, el sábado 28 de septiembre. Migraciones es un proyecto original, multidisciplinar y multicultural que ofrece danza, movimiento, cuentacuentos, títeres, música, poesía y mucho más.

La estructura de este evento es una procesión que tiene lugar en tierra Wiyot. Comenzaremos en Valley West Park, Hallen Drive, a las 9:00 a.m., y terminaremos en la entrada de 14th st. y Union del Arcata Community Forest, alrededor de las 2:30 p.m.

La procesión se detiene en varios lugares a lo largo de la ruta donde diversos grupos culturales, organizaciones y artistas, incluyendo el Centro del Pueblo, Tribu Yurok, Humboldt Taiko, Humboldt Lao Dancers, Blue Lake Choir, Humboldt Capoeira, Ponies of Harmony and Ra, compartirán su trabajo, juego, arte y cultura. Los participantes pueden hacer el recorrido completo (unas 5 millas) o simplemente asistir a una o dos actuaciones de estas organizaciones y artistas locales.

En una procesión crece la solidaridad entre los participantes, ya que caminar juntos nos une en un viaje compartido. Migraciones utilizará la investigación y el alcance comunitario que Playhouse Arts sigue desarrollando para ampliar y profundizar nuestras relaciones.
