Minor Theatre Grand Reopening Short Film Fest

Minor Theatre

A new era for Arcata’s landmark cinema begins September 16th, when the Minor Theatre reopens its doors to the public. After a decade of corporate rule, our historic theatre is back where it belongs. Locally owned, operated, and community-driven, our mission is to restore the Minor’s legacy as the crown jewel of our cultural heritage.

Attendees will be the very first to enjoy the new Minor experience — enhanced concessions and services, including local delicacies, table service, adult beverages, and deluxe seating! We’ve even outfitted all three auditoriums with new projection, screens, and sound. The oldest movie house in the country is now the freshest in Humboldt.

The evening’s main feature is an all-local short Film Fest, showcasing works from our talented and creative friends and neighbors. Highlights include the premiere of two brand new films from artists Steven Vander Meer and Violet Crabtree.
