Music in the Garden Concert Series
Music Amongst the Blooms: HBG Music in the Garden Concert Series 2015, Join the Humboldt Botanical Garden in the sixth year of our “Music in the Garden Concert Series” by attending a concert on the lawn at the Garden. The Summer Concert Series has been expanded to include a wide variety of genres with 6 concerts on the first and third Sunday’s of June, July, and August! The concerts are from Noon-2 PM. The cost is FREE with Garden Admission: General Admission at the Garden is $8.00, Seniors, Active Duty Military, Children 6-18 are $5.00, Children 5 and younger are FREE, HBG Members are FREE. Bring the family, a picnic basket, blanket and/or chairs and make it a family activity. (All picnic contents must be packed in and out.) HBG kicks off the Music Series June 7 with Patrick Cleary & Friends. Although perhaps more widely known as the executive director of Humboldt Area Foundation, Patrick Cleary is passionate about music. Patrick will be performing with some of his musical friends, including a set by Bramble & the Rose, a band that features Cat Koshkin and Tim Harkins. June 21, Lisa C. Sharry is a singer/songwriter acoustic guitarist who plays original eclectic music, and has been playing in Humboldt County for over 30 years. Continue your Fourth of July celebration on July 5 with the Scotia Band and enjoy a Lost Coast Brewery Root Beer Float. Scotia Band, known for its stately maroon and gold uniforms and caps, was founded in 1935 by Pacific Lumber Company employees and has entertained the community continuously since then. The old-fashioned 30-member community band performs under the baton of Jill Petricca, the first woman to lead the band. Petricca was born and raised in Eureka by parents who taught in the Eureka Schools system. July 19, the Soothing Tones of Peter Rodenberg performs his songs consisting of hilarious stories with his guitar in hand. August 2, Northcoast Brass Ensemble mixes the best of traditional and contemporary literature for brass with transcriptions of everything from classical to jazz and popular favorites, the Northcoast Brass Ensemble promises an enjoyable afternoon of musical fun and entertainment for all ages. August 16, Dubbadubs play a reggae finale, definitely a unique way to end the 2015 concert series. The Dubbadubs are an original roots reggae band based out of Humboldt County. The Dubbadubs strive to bring a new sound and style to reggae, while keeping the roots alive.
