Music in the Garden

Humboldt Botanical Garden

Join us at the Garden on June 18th when Dr. Gil Cline and his “brass mob” — Trumpet Consort von Humboldt along with Humboldt Bay Brass present “Summer Solstice Brass,” a concert of musical “blooms” for brass instruments from Renaissance and Baroque eras up to modern times. On tap are a beautiful romance round, a palindrome by Mozart, and other tasty morsels.

The audience will see and hear not only brass of the present (valved trumpet and cornet, tenor horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba), but also true natural trumpets of the kind used in the music of Bach and Handel. Expect also to hear some bits on seashell and even Cline’s patented Helicopter Hoses!

Summer Solstice Brass is the second concert in Humboldt Botanical Garden’s Summer Music in the Garden series. The garden opens at 10 a.m., the music begins at 12 noon. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy music in the Garden! This is a family friendly event.

This activity is FREE to HBG members, admission is $8 for non-members adults or $5 for seniors, students, active military & children over 6, children under 6 are free.

Humboldt Botanical Garden is located at 7707 Tompkins Hill Rd., Eureka, adjacent to the College of the Redwoods campus.
