Music in the Garden Series

Humboldt Botanical Garden

Humboldt Botanical Garden Foundation presents a jazzy summer concert in the “Music in the Garden” series on Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 12 – 2 p.m. Bring a chair or a blanket and a picnic lunch and tap your feet to the sounds of summer!

The Low Notes: a Humboldt county Jazz combo playing their take on jazz standards, original compositions and jazz interpretations of classic and not-so-classic tunes from the American Song Book. The band is comprised of veteran Humboldt County musicians that come together to blend various styles of music into their own sound.
Doug Mortenson, on guitar, played rock and roll in the popular Humboldt band The Good Dog Banned in the 1970’s, and plays drums currently in The Thieves.
Doug Kamprath, on drums, was the drummer in the great local swing band Magnolia as well as being involved with Afro–Cuban drum circles and many other projects.
Dave Ryan, on piano/keys, hails from the seminal Humboldt County roots rockers The Delta Nationals where he has been delighting audiences with his creative piano solos for years.
Rick DeVol, on bass, plays in Humboldt County rock bands Trifecta and Wild Otis, and has held down the bottom end in many diverse blues and jazz combos, as well.

The Low Notes band promises an enjoyable afternoon of musical fun and entertainment for all ages.
