Music in the Garden Series
As we enjoy a lovely summer on the northcoast, just imagine sipping a refreshing root beer float, listening to a live performance of John Phillip Sousa’s iconic “Stars and Stripes Forever” while surrounded by a beautiful garden setting of roses in bloom. Humboldt Botanical Garden Foundation invites everyone to celebrate the Independence Day weekend at the Humboldt Botanical Garden with the venerable Scotia Band on Sunday, July 3, from noon to 2 p.m.
Scotia Band, known for its stately maroon and gold uniforms and caps, was founded in 1935 by Pacific Lumber Company employees and has entertained the community continuously since then. The old-fashioned 30-member community band performs under the baton of Jill Petricca, the first woman to lead the band.
Scotia Band is the third concert in Humboldt Botanical Garden’s Summer Music in the Garden series. The garden opens at 10 a.m., the music begins at 12 noon. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy music in the Garden! Old-fashioned root beer floats will be offered for sale as a fundraiser for both the HBG and Scotia Band. FREE to members; $5 non-members Garden Admission
