Natural History and Ecology of California Pinnipeds
Join Trinidad Coastal Land trust for an in-person presentation by Claire Nasr, focused on the natural history and ecology of California pinnipeds (the taxonomic group that includes seals and sea lions). The talk will also cover best practices for respectful observation of these animals in their wild habitat in Humboldt County and identification techniques of common marine mammal species found off the northern California Coast. Claire Nasr is a marine ecologist specializing in marine wildlife ecology with seals, sea lions and seabirds. She received her Bachelor’s from UC Santa Cruz in Marine Biology, and Masters from Humboldt State University in Wildlife. Though masks are no longer required indoors, we do recommend that attendees be vaccinated and wear a mask indoors per CDPH guidance. These requirements are subject to change per county guidance.
