New Wave / No Wave Night

DJ PerilNormal will be spinning danceable New Wave, No Wave, and things in-between - plus some newer music inspired by these genres - starting at 9 pm. Think bands like Blondie, New Order, Suicide, The Slits, Gang of Four, Au Pairs, Cabaret Voltaire, ESG.

Both genres have roots in the late-70s - New Wave in the U.K. with a “more buoyant, quirky, and artsy sound… with inspiration from the power-pop genre from the 60s” (Rough Trade), and No Wave in the gritty New York City scene, an avant-garde reaction against “all that three-chord rock whose attitudes may have been Punk, but whose musical roots came from Chuck Berry riffs of the 50s” (Robin Crutchfield).

Dress-up in late 70s/early 80s “New Wave / No Wave” theme is encouraged! 9 pm. This is a FREE event, 21 and up.
