NICHOLAS MERZ has been compared to Orville Peck and Bambara – “brooding western gothic rock sweeping the underground.” KEXP says “Merz has shaped his own version of country music, grappling with the sins he witnessed instead of looking away.” HOWLS ROAD is the moniker of multi-instrumentalist/composer/singer-songwriter Emily Pratt. Her playfully menacing folk songs tell stories of love, growth, and navigating the fringes of society as a trans person. Her abstract live performance is a blend of orchestral loops, Dadaist storytelling, and Expressionist inspired lighting. Plus a rare appearance by GUIDING WATER: folk inspired tunes crafted from a long-time Humboldt recluse. Suggested $10 donation at the door for the artists.
