Thankfully, these two cool cats have hit the road wholeheartedly, joining us all the way from the New York and DC areas. Nick and Luke bring a vibrant, contemporary americana-fusion and because they are fun and entertaining people, they will likely have fun and entertaining snippets from their journey from east to west, which has been and promises to continue to be eventfully epic. Nicholas Horner and Lucas Chohany have a musical kinship unlike any other. With a love for traditional music and honest songwriting presented with the spontaneity of jazz and the reckless abandon of rock music, Nick and Luke have cultivated a musical language all their own. While playing a combination of americana-rooted original music, jazz standards and the bluegrass/old-time liturgy, their performances ebb and flow to create a playful blend of the visceral and the virtuosic.
Local trio No Pardon will open. For those of you who don’t already know, No Pardon is a rippin’ folk music trio born in Eureka CA. Comprised of singer-songwriters Chris Parreira (guitar) and Rosalind Parducci (fiddle), and Amber Grimes on stand-up bass, this band has played over a year of shows regionally and locally, and are excited to play at one of their favorite Eureka performance hubs again. No Pardon features conceptually fluid songwriting; they are groove-tight, and inexorably creative.
