October Open House and Artist’s Reception
Studio 299 Center for the Arts
Mother and Daughter’s Art Featured at Studio 299 Pat O’Hara and her daughter Charlotte will share the spotlight at Studio 299 Center for the Arts’ monthly Open House and Artist’s Reception on Saturday October 11th. The gallery is located at 75 The Terrace in Willow Creek. Born in Coos Bay, Oregon, Pat O’Hara moved to California with her family in 1956. “I came from a long line of Craftsmen” she says. “My Dad was a woodcarver and his brother was a painter. I was always drawing and was fortunate to have an exceptional high school art instructor who studied in Europe. I studied art further in collage and I did figure studies with an art group in Sebastopol.” She prefers portraiture of people and animals in watercolor and acrylics, using water based media as opposed to chemical base, feeling that the water based is cleaner. Pat’s daughter Charlotte decided to follow one of her passions, photography, as it works well with some of her other passions: hiking, biking, yarn work, and reading. “I started taking photos to record my time with my late husband and the life we shared. I still love to take hikes with my small dog Zak and take photos as I go of things not often seen. I believe nature has many more surprises up her sleeve, and I want to find at least some of them to share. Those are the details I look for, and try to capture.” Studio 299’s monthly Open House on Saturday October 11th is free to the public. The Gallery Opening and Reception will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at 75 The Terrace in Willow Creek. The public is invited to attend and enjoy complimentary refreshments, discover local art and build community. Studio 299 is a non-profit community group devoted to the promotion and development of the arts in the Klamath and Trinity communities of Northern California. The gallery and gift shop is located at 75 The Terrace in Willow Creek. Completed in 2012, the multipurpose gallery offers an attractive location for the community to come together at monthly openings, open mike nights, and special events and during gallery hours.
