“On the Road to Climate Action” Lecture

Humboldt Coastal Nature Center

Friends of the Dunes and the Northcoast Environmental Center will be co-hosting the team of Shahir Masri (air pollution scientist from UC Irvine) and Athina Simolaris (educator) with their project, “On the Road for Climate Action.” These two have put their careers on hold to take to the road this year to help raise awareness about the accelerated pace of climate change and the urgency to address it, current but inadequate climate policies, and concrete steps and solutions available to our communities and country. They kicked off their year in August, 2018, with an 11-week tour throughout 35 states and included meetings with fellow scientists, policy makers, and the public about climate change impacts and solutions. This spring, Humboldt County is one of 16 locations where they will offer information gathered during their trip along with exciting and hopeful ways to address this urgent issue. The topic of basic climate science will be addressed, as will information about impacts and solutions.
